Last night while the rest of my family was at a soccer match, lightning struck about 100 meters from our house and blew out our TV, VCR, Wii, phone, wife’s PC and fried the network card in my PC. Luckily the fridge, washer and air conditioners were spared.
On the bright side, with nothing left to have fun with and no money to buy replacements, maybe our kids will start reading books.
ZOIKS!
Why are network cards such pussies? Mine went out like that when lightning struck outside my window once. Nothing else, just the card.
I was wondering if it has something to do with the BIOS resetting. The internal clock was reset to Jan 1, 2000, 12:00am. I looked through the BIOS settings and couldn’t find anything that looked like, “turn the NIC back on,” so I’m assuming it’s a gonner.
I would give you my VCR, but I’d have to go up in the attic, dig through some boxes, dust it off and go through it all over again to find the remote.
Maybe you’d be better off upgrading to DVD?
Our DVD player survived, but it’s not good for much without a TV.
