  9. @Mike: I have to say, I’m always surprised when I hear from people like you–visits frequently but never leaves a comment. What surprises me most is that people like you are invariably really, really nice–like the rest who come here.

  15. @Rich – The bottom picture is around 10 years old, that might be why. The top 2 are about 2 years old. I look about the same though. Never got that comment that none of my pics look like the same person 🙂

    Autumn is the best time to visit Japan, provided you don’t arrive while we’re getting hit with a typhoon. Over the next few months is the best time to visit.

  28. @Chris: Wow, I covet your Nikon D80. The color saturation and sharpness of your images is amazing. The look like professionally scanned 35mm slides.

    Seriously, I’m going to start saving my money.

  29. Thanks Rich. I think it’s the lens as much as anything – the Nikon 18-200VR is beautiful – expensive, but I’m hoping it’s the last lens I ever need to buy..

    You might want to take a look at the D40 as well – lighter, cheaper and the reviews say the quality is up there with the D80. If I were buying again I’d definitely give it some serious consideration, as the D80 is a bit heavy.

  30. The D40 I’m pretty sure won’t auto bracket exposures, which would mean no HDR photography. That lens is expensive, but it does the job of at least 3 or 4, and cuts down on how much you need to carry, including a tripod.

  31. Both good points. Just watch out for the exposure meter on the D80, it’s kinda random..

  38. Hey Rich. I haven’t commented since Spring semester, but I read every once in a while. I’ve been busy / on really slow internet, so I have cut back a lot on wasting time on the internets. I’m going to Japan on Monday. Maybe we can chill when I take a weekend trip to Tokyo. Here’s a picture of me.
